Update from Tempo Time Credits CEO Mark Froud
We are now nearly a quarter of the way through 2021 and as we enter a new financial year nearly 60% of the adult population is now protected, as the vaccination programme looks like it will be complete by the end of the summer. This would not have happened without a herculean effort by the NHS and volunteers to whom we owe so much to during these incredibly difficult times. We all then hope we can return to something approaching the World we knew before the pandemic.
It will take a while for patterns to be established, but they will, albeit in a different way. Covid-19 has accelerated some of the trends that were already in play:
- Greater need for online shopping
- Greater need for online entertainment
- Increased social isolation
- Increased social and economic exclusion
Tempo Time Credits is seeking to provide some underpinning infrastructure to the world of volunteering during a time of increasing uncertainty. Many of the groups we supported during the pandemic had few resources and we hope that we have gone some way to supporting their efforts on the ground to help many of the more vulnerable in our society get through the last year.
Our new digital platform has now been fully operational since the beginning of the year and has been a great tool for allowing volunteers to be recognised for their contribution they make to society, while many of our recognition partners are forced to remain closed. It and our new online and other offers from supermarkets, takeaways and online entertainment providers are well received and encouraging greater volunteer diversity and retention.
We hope to have news about further new services in the coming weeks.
