Uber Boat by Thames Clippers

It’s that time of the month again, where we spend some time focusing on some of the amazing recognition partners in our network! If you live in or are just visiting London then this is a must and a great opportunity to travel across the city in a truly unique way.

This month we are excited to be catching up with Liam Thompson, Customer Communications Manager at Uber Boats Thames Clippers. To see how Tempo Time Credits have helped their business and the reasons why they love to reward volunteers and recognise the contribution they make to society.

When did you join the Tempo Time Credits network?

We joined around 2014. We were looking for ways to recognise the voluntary work that goes on in our community and the Tempo model allowed us to do this, in a simple, low-risk way.

What can Tempo Time Credits be used on?

Tempo Time Credits volunteers contribute to the community which then allows them to gain Tempo Time Credits. The volunteers can flexibly use their Tempo Time Credits for a single journey, anywhere within our route network of 23 piers, extending from Woolwich (Royal Arsenal) in the east to Putney in the west.

How does being a Recognition Partner benefit your organisation?

We are embracing and rewarding the voluntary work that these individuals are contributing to the community. We’re proud to celebrate this by inviting them on board our vessels. The benefit for us is being able to stand alongside the charity Tempo and understand our customer base further. It’s a win-win, we become more embedded into the community, understand more about our market, and attract positive PR. The volunteers get flexible access to our services.

What has the experience of accepting Tempo Time Credits been like for your venue/business?

It’s really straightforward. We’ve been able to integrate the Tempo Time Credits process into our ticketing and booking system, which has ensured an efficient and customer-focused approach for the volunteers. This also enables us to maintain control. Tempo Time Credits have been very supportive in integrating our redemption and booking process as we evolve as a business.

What would you say to other businesses who are considering joining the Tempo Time Credits network?

It’s a charitable contribution and feels rewarding to welcome the volunteers who have contributed greatly to the community. It’s a great way for customer-facing staff to connect with local communities and understand the type of contributions given by the volunteers.  There is limited administrative requirement involved to welcome Tempo Time Credits volunteers. There are considerable benefits for us and no obvious drawbacks.
