Colleges; Building our Wonderfully Diverse Communities by Enriching People’s Skills-Set
Did you know that here at Tempo our volunteers actually come from a more diverse demographic than the traditional volunteer base?
Our 2021 impact report shows that a proportion of our volunteers may be:
- Temporarily unemployed
- Have a life-limiting condition
- Come from a broad range of economic backgrounds.
This motivates us to look for new ways for our volunteers to use their Tempo Time Credits.
Although we know that our volunteers don’t volunteer for the recognition, we strongly believe that each of them deserve to be recognised for what they do, especially in a way that can benefit them and their personal situation.
As mentioned in our previous blog we work with a range of recognition partners whose offers include gym memberships, cinema tickets, coffee vouchers and much more. These are fantastic opportunities for our volunteers to get out, get active and hopefully support their social interaction, mental health and wellbeing.
But, we want to increase their opportunities even further.
Education has the power to permanently change and empower lives and communities. Our volunteers work exceptionally hard and we think that they deserve the opportunity to develop new knowledge and skill-sets too.
Our aim is to continue to build strong partnerships with colleges and tertiary education institutions around the country who can provide courses and tuition that enable our shared network to learn, enjoy and grow.
The concept is simple. People earn Tempo Time Credits when they volunteer with a charity or community group that is part of the Tempo network. They then use their credits on a wide range of activities, products and educational services of their choice.
These activities are provided by the national network of Tempo recognition partners i.e. businesses, colleges and organisations, and are essential to ensuring the volunteers are recognised for the invaluable work they do.
With no fees, subscriptions or hidden costs, organisations can design bespoke packages based on your needs and how much you can offer – you choose and are completely in control. Whether that’s a few spare places in one of their computer-skills classes, a short-term NVQ or even an extracurricular virtual dance class, we hope everyone can get involved.
How can you make a difference?
If you are still wondering how you could contribute as a Recognition Partner. Here are a few of our partners that we are working with at the moment.
- White Rose Maths: Provide award-winning maths support materials for parents, teachers and schools. Volunteers can use these to help their own development as well as assisting their child’s learning too.
- Learning and Enterprise college, Bexley: Provide a range of adult education, vocational qualifications and skills for life courses enabling our volunteers to upskill and meet new people.
With your help…
Currently 89% of those who volunteer within our Tempo network feel more positive about the future.
By becoming one of our recognition partners, you will be offering educational services to our volunteers and giving back to your local community. Our volunteers will be able to use their Tempo Time Credits to gain employment, further their careers but also to simply learn something new.
Why not get involved?
Today, there are over 750+ recognition partners in the Tempo network, with 68,000+ people having earned Tempo Time Credits and more than 1 million Tempo Time Credits have been earned across the United Kingdom.
