Volunteers week – making a difference everyday
It’s no secret that our Tempo team are passionate about celebrating our volunteers. We work with organisations around the country to build local and national networks bringing people together in their local communities to carry out essential and life-changing voluntary work. From gardening and litter picking groups to well-being and befriending, the opportunities are endless.
Watching the transformation
Arguably the most rewarding part of our job is seeing the impact. Watching organisations that we work with grow and develop and meeting individuals whose lives have been changed unimaginably.
Our network grows every day. Constantly providing communities with new connections which are beneficial to both parties and Tempo using our platforms to facilitate those new relationships.
How it all works
Our digital platform enables our charity partners to ‘advertise’ their volunteer opportunities helping them to recruit the key skills they need when they need them.
In return, our charities award their volunteers with Time Credits to reward and recognise them for their hard work. These can be exchanged for a range of services and activities. Although we know that volunteers do not give their time for any reward, Tempo Time Credits act as a way of saying thanks They give volunteers opportunities that they may not normally be able to afford or access and therefore are often great for recruiting and retaining volunteers.
Usually, this process happens all online but last week Amy, one of our community and partnership managers, received two calls in quick succession that allowed her to personally make the connection.
The first was from a charity, Llarmu, which runs a program for young people encouraging them to volunteer. After hearing about us, they got in touch to ask for help to find new volunteer opportunities.
Incredibly, the second phone call was from Welsh Athletics who were looking for extra support for their upcoming championships.
As a result, Amy was able to provide a possible solution to both, connecting the two organisations together so that Llarmu could offer its young volunteers to help out at the championships – a win win for both sides hopefully.
Dont just take our word for it
Our partners love it….
“There’s not many things you have available to say thank you to volunteers and this is a real thing to change the culture, to let volunteers accept that thanks. This is really helpful to me, it’s a great scheme so thank you.” – Cornwall Council
Our volunteers appreciate it…
“It is so amazing to see classes we can attend through Tempo that are focused on wellness and taking time to care for ourselves, which as Survivors we don’t often do!” – Survivor, Women’s Aid
This is Tempo. This is our Story. Come and be part of it.
