The gift that keeps on giving!

Our Tempo volunteers have reached an amazing milestone this month. Collectively they have gifted over 10,000 of their digital Time Credits to their family and friends – a great way to share the reward and recognition of their volunteering.

Volunteering itself brings many advantages. Meeting new people, gaining new skills, and the physical and mental benefits of simply getting out of the house. Those involved with a charity or organisation in partnership with Tempo, earn time credits to redeem with a range of recognition partners around the country and online. It’s a great way for our charities to say thank you and undoubtedly helps with the recruitment and retention of volunteers.

Earlier in the year we shared Richard’s story, a hotel owner from Tenby.  He volunteers his time to Pembrokeshire Care, Share and Give collecting food surplus from supermarkets across the county alongside providing accommodation and meals to those in the community who find themselves temporarily homeless.

Richard has gifted some of his Time Credits earned through his volunteering to his daughter Rhian to treat his granddaughter Maisie to some special days out that Rhian otherwise would not have been able to afford.

Richard explains:

It’s been lovely to see how giving my time can also benefit others within my family through gifting and allow them to experience opportunities and treats as a direct result of me just giving some of my time each week to volunteer in my local community.

Gifting your Time Credits

Transferring your Time Credits to family and friends couldn’t be easier and they don’t need to be an existing volunteer themselves to receive them.

Click the video below to watch a short demo, or just follow these simple steps:

Log in to your account at tempotimecredits.org

If you scroll down the homepage, you will see a pink “Share the love…” button. Click this, or select “Gift Time Credits” from the left-hand menu.

Type the email address of the person you’d like to gift your Time Credits to in the box.

Select how many Time Credits you would like to gift. Your balance is displayed at the top of the left-hand menu, so you can check how many Time Credits you have available to gift.

An email will be sent to your friend or family member with a link to sign up or log into to the Time Credits website and claim their gifted Time Credits. This link will also be displayed on the screen for you to copy, just in case the email does not come through.

If you decide you want to cancel a gift, you can do so from your Time Credits History. You can select this from the left-hand menu. The gift transaction will show in your history, and you can click “cancel” in the far right column. Once a gift has been collected, it can no longer be cancelled.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us using the details below.
