Opening pathways through heritage

The programme works with heritage organisations and community partners to:

  • connect people to meaningful opportunities
  • support organisations to grow and diversify their volunteer base
  • remove barriers to participation
  • create welcoming, inclusive entry points

Time Credits recognise people’s contributions while building confidence and engagement.

Broadening participation

A key focus is ensuring heritage is accessible and inclusive, particularly for:

  • young people
  • underrepresented communities
  • people facing barriers to participation

By creating flexible, supportive opportunities, more people can connect with their local history and community.

Building skills, confidence and connection

Through participation, people:

  • gain new skills and experiences
  • build confidence and wellbeing
  • connect with their community and local heritage

Time Credits

Like Medway, Tempo has a rich heritage of engaging, encouraging, and enabling community participation.

Since 2017, Tempo has been supporting communities in Medway to build connections, improve wellbeing and take part in community life.

At the heart of this is Time Credits, which recognise that everyone’s time is valuable and that everyone has something to offer. By earning Time Credits for the time they give, people are thanked in a meaningful way and can use those credits on a range of local and national opportunities.
