A bit about Hilary
Hilary, 80, has been earning Tempo Time Credits for making Christmas cards at her social group Here & Now, in Blacon.Here & Now is a social enterprise that was set up by Karen, 55, and a dedicated team of volunteers with support from directors of local voluntary organisations. When a local charity ceased operating in the area, the group were worried about how local people would cope without the services.
"Our aim is to alleviate social isolation for over 50s in Blacon and the surrounding areas", explains Karen. "We provide exercise, social activities, a nourishing 2-course meal and give people a chance to get together in their local community."
"That Here and Now group are amazing. I took my mum in 3 years ago and it was so hard as I was doing a full time job and then caring for mum full time too - I honestly couldn't live without them!"
