Celebrating Local Impact: The Stories That Shape Tempo

This year we are proud to launch our 2025 National Impact Report, a powerful reflection of the difference Time Credits are making across the UK. If you haven’t had a chance to explore it yet, you can find it on our Impact page!

But behind every national statistic is something even more meaningful: local stories, real people, and communities creating change together.

Today, we’re excited to share a collection of our local impact reports, which bring these stories to life in a deeply personal and place-based way.

Why Local Stories Matter

At Tempo, we’ve always believed that community power starts locally. While national insights help us see the bigger picture, it’s within neighbourhoods, organisations, and everyday moments that Time Credits truly come alive.

These reports showcase:

  • The individuals building confidence, skills, and connections
  • The organisations strengthening their communities
  • The partnerships creating lasting social change

They are a testament to the idea that time is a powerful currency, one that unlocks opportunity, belonging, and shared purpose.

We’re proud to share the incredible work happening across our network:

Each report offers a unique insight into how Time Credits are being used to recognise contributions, build stronger communities, and create pathways to new experiences.

A Collective Story of Impact

Together, these local reports form something bigger than the sum of their parts. They reflect the heart of Tempo—a movement built on recognising the value of everyone’s time.

From small acts of kindness to large-scale community initiatives, these stories show how Time Credits help:

  • Increase confidence and wellbeing
  • Strengthen local networks
  • Open up access to new opportunities
  • Empower people to play an active role in their communities

Looking Ahead

As we continue to grow, these stories remind us why this work matters. They shape our approach, inspire our partnerships, and guide our vision for the future. We’re incredibly proud to share them with you, and even more excited about what’s still to come.

“I had a huge mental breakdown in 2020 which ran over into 2021. I lost my business, many friends, found out I couldn’t have children, and became estranged from my family. A friend introduced me to volunteering at the theatre and then to Tempo Time Credits. Although I’m still not back at work, I’m able to do nice things that I simply couldn’t afford to do without Time Credits. I can make plans to spoil my partner and friends, go to the gym or swimming, and even took a weekend break to London. These things have become part of my return to health plan. Reflecting on how it’s helped me, I feel really emotional. It’s like a surrogate parental role saying: ‘Go out, enjoy yourself, things have been difficult so be kind to yourself and those who’ve stood by you.’ I just want to say thank you to everyone who works at and develops Tempo Time Credits. It’s difficult to quantify how much it’s helped me, but it’s not far from the truth to say it’s been integral to my recovery.”

Stories like this remind us that system change isn’t abstract – it’s deeply personal. By embedding Time Credits into services and places, we make recovery, resilience, and wellbeing possible in ways that traditional systems alone can’t achieve.

Looking Ahead

The future of system change lies in building models that recognise communities as equal partners. By working alongside health and public services, and by putting place and people first, Tempo Time Credits show what’s possible when we shift mindsets from delivering to co-creating.The challenge now is to go further: to make sure that every community has the tools to unlock its own strengths, that systems recognise the value of reciprocity, and that stories like the one above become the rule rather than the exception.

At Tempo, we’ll keep building the bridge between systems and communities – because real change happens when people are at the heart of it.
