Our Work in Wales - Funded by Welsh Government

A national movement rooted in local communities across Wales. Funded by the Welsh Government, Tempo Time Credits Cymru is the first national Time Credits network of its kind globally, working across all 22 local authority areas in Wales. The programme supports national priorities around loneliness, community cohesion and poverty, while enabling people to take part in social action and community life.

Working in partnership across Wales

We work with key partners including WCVA and the network of County Voluntary Councils (CVCs), alongside community organisations, public services, housing providers, businesses and social enterprises.

This creates a joined-up, place-based approach that connects national infrastructure with local delivery.

Supporting wellbeing through Hapus

Tempo is a strategic partner in Public Health Wales’ Hapus campaign.

Through this partnership, Time Credits are recognised as an enabler of wellbeing — helping people to connect, contribute and access new opportunities. Time Credits open doors across Wales, supporting individuals to improve their wellbeing while strengthening community connections.

What we’ve achieved together

  • 900+ community organisations engaged
  • 8,000+ volunteers involved
  • 275,000+ Time Credits earned
  • 40,000+ Time Credits used

This growing national network is built on strong local relationships and community-led activity.

Deepening our impact

Our next phase focuses on deepening impact by:

  • supporting organisations to maximise the use of Time Credits
  • strengthening place-based delivery
  • developing more partnerships with businesses and social enterprises across Wales
  • growing social action and participation opportunities

Investing in people and communities

We will recruit a Volunteer Coordinator to support the growth of Tempo volunteers and ambassadors working across Wales.

These volunteers will:

  • support befriending and reduce isolation
  • connect people into their communities
  • create pathways into volunteering and participation
  • champion Time Credits locally

Working in place, they will use their skills, strengths and lived experience to respond to community needs and support inclusive participation.

A Wales-wide network with local impact

Tempo Time Credits Cymru connects a national network with deeply local action, creating opportunities for connection, contribution and community building across Wales.

“I love it. Time Credits give me a sense of dignity. They allow me to treat people, and that brings me real joy.”

‘Tempo Time Credits have allowed my brother the luxury of visiting the zoo and cinema without the steep cost of admission.’

‘The digital platform has revitalised volunteer engagement, making recognition both accessible and independent.’
